Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year!

Toto and I wish all our doggy friends and their hoomans a very happy and successful 2008. May the new year bring with it loads of treats for us furkids and their hoomans.

Today is the very last day of 2007. This year has been quite eventful for me. First off, I had my boy bits taken out this year. I was sorry to see them go but Mummy says she loves me with or without my boy bits so I guess that was OK.

I also gained a brother this year. I went from a single dog family to having to share my hoomans with a pesky little brother. I am still getting used to being a big brother.

And another very exciting event in my doggy world - I found Dogs With Blogs! I am so happy to have found such a happy and caring community out there in cyberspace. I am enjoying myself very much with all the friends that I have found.

I now look forward to 2008. I wonder what the year will bring for me.

Post Christmas

Merry Christmas to all my friends and their parents!

Its been ages since Mummy updated my blog for me. She has been deserting us and travelling all over the place in the last month. That is why I am so back dated. Anyway better late than never now that Mummy is home.

Well, Christmas has come and gone. I just love Christmas and I wish it came more than once a year. Loads of yummy things to eat and pressies. Lovely! We always have a lovely tree all decorated with glittery things and lights. And of course, loads of pressies under it. It was Toto's first Christmas with us so he was a bit confused in the beginning but he soon got the idea when the food came along.

With Mummy and our tree (and our pressies)

Christmas in our house is a time to be with family and this year was no exception. Mummy made a yummy dinner of roast beef and rack of lamb. We were given some for our Christmas dinner so I can tell you it was good. And we had Por Por (my maternal Grandmother), Mah Mah (my paternal Grandmother) and Qong Qong (my paternal Grandfather) over for dinner.

Jie Jie as usual clowning around at the dinner table

After dinner we opened all our presents and there were loads of presents to be opened. It was really quite exciting. Kor Kor and Jie Jie were squealing and jumping around with excitement. I had been smelling something really yummy around the tree the last couple of days. I've been wondering if its my present.

I was right. It was my present.Kor Kor in raptures over his Christmas present

All too soon, all the presents were opened. The very last bit of roast beef and lamb were gone. Its time to get back to our favourite pasttime - lazing around till next Christmas

Busy Busy

Sorry! Sorry! A thousand apologies my fur friends. The last 10 days have been really very hectic. Many things have happened and I just couldn't find the time to sit down with Mummy and work on my blog.

Firstly, Daddy got real sick with food poisoning and had to go to hospital! He was there for 4 whole days. He is now fine and is back at home. But during those days, Mummy, Jie Jie and Kor Kor had to go to hospital everyday. Mummy says Daddy was just like a big baby when he was in hospital. Personally I think Daddy was faking it. He doesn't look sick to me. He just wanted some babying!

After the big hooha with Daddy, Toto turned 1 year old. He's a big boy now. I must say I like this birthday thing. Even though it was Toto's birthday I also enjoyed his presents. I had such a good time that day.

The day started out as usual with Toto in his favorite pose.

Then we had the present giving session. I can see treats and my favorite squeaky toys in there. I wanted them but Mummy says they are for Toto because its his birthday presents. Its not fair. I also want pressies too.

Thank goodness Toto shared his presents with me. I love my brother! Here's a video of us playing with his toy.

Well! Its actually a video of me playing with his toy!

After playing for a bit, Mummy said it was time to have cake. Cake! Cake! I love cake! So we gathered around and Mummy brought out Toto's birthday cake. It had a little doggie on it and one candle for his 1st birthday. See his cake. Next year, I will get my own cake Mummy says. I will have 2 candles on mine.

After Toto, well Jie Jie helped, blew out the candle Toto cut his cake. Here he is doing the honours with Jie Jie's help.

Then we each got a huge piece of cake. It is vanilla pandan flavor. Yum Yum! Here we are wolfing down our cake.

To end off a perfect day, we even had a special dinner that night. We had lamb with pasta. What a treat. I have to tell you I didn't like the lettuce and broccoli but I ate everything else. Toto as usual ate every drop and tried to get mine too.

I've Been Away

Sorry my furfriends. My Mummy has been really busy this last week. She had this big meeting happening and had many people from all over the world visiting so she has not been free to update my blog. As a result of that too, our lives have been rather boring of late. But the good news is that we are now back to normal. I have missed reading all your blogs and will be spending the next few days doing so.

In the meantime, I am so happy that I have been given 2 awards. The first one is the I "Heart" Your Blog! from Petbeach. Its a blog about stories of furkids and their adventures. They are new and depend on stories from fellow furkids. So please do visit them and give them stories about yourselves.

The second award is Be The Blog from my fellow Cairn terrors, Maya and Kena. Thanks a million you guys. You're the greatest. I just love reading about your exploits.

This award is presented to a successful blogger, one who can “be the blog” - making it their own, staying with it, interacting with the readers, and just plain having fun. At the same time, I would also like to give this award to my good friend Precious, Girl Girl The Hamsterberian, Lorenza and Balboa & his Mummy. They are just the greatest bloggers.

And very importantly, my Jie Jie has asked me to thank all of you for your kind barkday wishes. She had a great time eating and eating like a pig. (The pig part I added in myself.)

She also has more great news. She learnt yesterday that she has been accepted into the junior college of her choice. She will be reading Theatre Studies and Drama. This means that we will have to put up with more wailing and screeching from her trying to sing!!! More of her prancing around doing something she calls dancing! She looks rather funny when she does this. Anyway, congratulations Jie Jie.

Jie Jie's Birthday

This weekend Jie Jie celebrated her Sweet Sixteen (I agree with the 16 bit but the sweet - Hmmm! Not so sure about that) birthday. She had this really yummilicious cheese cake. I know because my Mummy sneaked me a small piece. (Psst! Don't tell my Daddy)

The yummilicious cake

Jie Jie spent the whole of her birthday eating. That pig!! She started the day off with Roti Prata. For my foreign friends who don't know what prata is, it is a yummy pancake-like bread that you eat with curry.

Jie Jie all ready to attack her prata
The boys totally satisfied after their prata.

I don't have any pictures of it but I was told that she then had a really huge lunch. She had braised goose, char siew pow (steamed bun with roasted meat), glutinous rice in lotus leaf, braised bean curd and many more. Told you my sister is a gluttony pig. She had all this without Toto and I. It was so mean of her.

Then for dinner, she had this huge piece of roast beef with creamed corn, yorkshire pudding and mashed potatoes. Its so unfair, she didn't share any with us! Wait till its my birthday, I won't share any of my cake with her.

See her huge piece of roast beef which she ate all by herself!

Me with my Jie Jie. I'm licking my lips because I just had the yummilicious cake that Mummy sneaked me.

Sunday Morning

On Sunday we went to the beach to our favorite pub for breakfast. Its called Scruffy Murphy. As they have used my name to name their establishment, I strongly believe that we should get a discount whenever we visit. And they should also treat me like royalty. So far it has not happened.

After breakfast (Well, the hoomans had their breakfast. We just had water!!!) we went for our usual long walkie. Here are some pictures of Toto and I on our ramble.

Here are Toto and I taking a breather with Mum and Dad.
Here's Toto trampling on the flower bed. Dreadful dog! And he's my brother!!!

Here we are waiting for Mum to buy breakfast home for Jie Jie. As usual, we couldn't get her out of bed. She's such a pig!!!

Brotherly Love

As I mentioned in one of my previous post, Toto and I are often at odds with each other. Especially when it comes to whose territory our parents' bed is. Mummy decided to take a video of us having it out with each other on her bed. I have to say she was not very amused after we were through with her bed. We made a "little" mess.

The video's not very good. Mummy says there wasn't enough light but I think you get the picture of how much "love" there is between Toto and I.

Weekend

I love weekends. Its when Mummy, Daddy, Jie Jie, Kor Kor and of course Toto and I get to spend time together. Sometimes we do loads of things when the mood takes us and sometimes we do nothing and act like couch potatoes.

This weekend started out a bit slow but on Sunday, Daddy decided that we were growing fat from not doing anything and took us to the beach in the evening. We had a super long walk. We saw loads of other doggies having their walkies too. There were also plenty of hoomans having BBQ at the beach and camping out. Loads of lovely exciting new smells.

After the long walkie, we went home and my family sat down and had dinner. Mummy made a chicken casserole and the smells were just killing me. But guess what happened. Toto and I actually already had our dinner earlier but Mummy (Bless her soft heart!) gave us another dinner of chicken casserole. My Mummy sure can cook! And we had 2 dinners that night! What more can I ask for!

Mummy's Annoyed

Firstly I was given a very lovely award by my friend Precious. Thank you so much and I want to give the award back to you too. I love reading your blog too.

Now you must be wondering how my mild mannered Mummy can get annoyed with an adorable pup like me. Well you see last few days Daddy has been away and I really feel that as the alpha male in the house now I must be the only one to sleep next to my Mummy and protect her. I have been doing just that. In the mornings we have one-to-one time when Mummy plays with me on the bed before she leaves for work. She has been doing that since I was young.

But horrors of horrors! Of late she has been putting Toto (my upstart of a brother) onto the bed at night! This is definitely not on. The bed and Mummy are mine. (Well! I let Daddy share her sometimes.) I am not sharing with Toto too! And to top it all off, I even now have to share my one-to-one playtime with Toto.

So this morning, I couldn't take it anymore. That rascal! I snapped at Toto! That naughty boy. Usurping me from my position. How dare he? Of course Mummy saw me do it and now she's annoyed with me. She even smacked me. She keeps going on and on about how I must learn to share and to love my brother.

Hey I love my brother and all but you know Mummy and the bed are special. They've been mine since I was a baby. Its sacrosanct. Its not fair. I don't want to share.

Is This My Brother?

Last weekend, my parents sent both Toto and I to see Auntie Eileen, our groomer. This was Toto's first full head to toe grooming session. And after he was done, I was so amazed. Toto actually looked cute!!

Before - wild and fuzzy
After - neat as a pin
See my cute little brother!

Mid-Autumn Festival

My sincere apologies for not blogging about this earlier but frankly I have been really busy. Busy eating that is.

Not sure if my furfriends are aware of this but they make mooncakes for furkids! See what the hoomans have we also have. My Mummy bought them from the doggie bakery for us.

The one on the left is mine and the right is Mummy's

Mummy's mooncake is made from lotus seed paste with 2 (she's a bit greedy) salted egg yolks inside. Mine is made from red bean paste and no salted egg yolks. Mummy says its not good for me to eat salted eggs. It will ruin my beautiful coat of hair.

Mine is still on the left and Mummy's (with her double egg yolk) is on the right

Mummy tells me that there is actually a story behind these mooncakes. Many many moons (pun fully intended) ago there was actually no such thing like mooncakes. But less many moons ago there was a group of people who were plotting a revolution in far off China. This revolution was to take place on mid-autumn night.

Now this was all well and good but if you can't talk to all the other revolutionaries to plan this, its not going to happen. So someone came up with this bright idea.

Eureka! Let's make these mooncakes. They are sticky inside so let's cut them open and stick our secret messages in them. We can then pass mooncakes/messages and the Emperor and his bad soldiers won't know how we tell each other when to revolt and how.

I thought this was rather clever. Its better than carrier pigeons because after getting message you can actually eat the mooncakes! What a bonus.

Hope all of you enjoyed the Mid-Autumn festival. I sure did. Yum! Yum! Mid-autumn should come around more than once a year.

I'm So Excited

Guess what! I have been selected to be the Cool Dogsite Of The Day on 20 September! I always knew I was cool. Snigger! Snigger!

Anyway back to more serious things. From my last posting, I asked all my friends to tell me what their obsessions are. I have to admit, furkids are really quite creative in their obsessions. And of course Toto's obsession is not confined to him alone. Quite a lot of my friends have the same obsession. It would appear that it is the most popular obsession.

Not missing out are tissues, towels and blankets. Most creative I have to admit is this obsession with bras! And somedog did like the underarm of used stinky T-shirts though. Hmmmm! Maybe I should try it someday.

I am sure you must all be wondering what my obession is. Its of course shoes! Remember my Jie Jie's new shoes. That's me!

Toto's Obsession

I have to tell you this. Toto has a really disgusting obsession! He is obsessed with stinky, smelly pooey socks. The stinkier the better. He only grabs all the used socks. He leaves the clean ones alone. Look at him! Isn't he disgusting!!!

Toto with Kor Kor's stinky socks

Tell me all about your obsessions.

My First Couple Of Days

I have been tagged by Precious to tell all about my first day/night. So here goes.

I need to give you a bit of background first. I came to sunny Singapore from Down Under. I had to sit in an aeroplane for hours before I got here and was sent to a pet shop. I had only been at the pet shop for a day when this lady spied me in my cage. Unbeknownst to me, she is to be my Mummy.

To be honest with you, my Mummy didn't want me or rather a furkid to begin with. First Jie Jie had gone to Heaven not too long ago and she wasn't sure that she wanted to be a Mummy again. Daddy was the one who insisted that she at least looked at furkids.

Anyway to cut a long story short, she spied me at the pet shop. She didn't even want to hold me at first but the kind Uncle at the pet shop picked me up and put me in her arms. Once in her arms I looked up at her, gave her one of my killer appealing looks and I'm glad to say I had her! Hee! Hee!

But I still couldn't go home yet. I had to stay another night at the pet shop while they dolled me up for the trip home. So bright and early the next day, Mummy came and brought me home.

When we got home, I was a bit bewildered and overcome. First there were my Kor Kor and Jie Jie to get to know. Then there was my new home to find my way around. Naturally as I didn't know any better then, I pooped and peed all over the house and it drove Mummy crazy. Luckily she was still in a mothering mood as I had only just come home and didn't scold me too much. Of course, I have learnt since.

That night I was getting a bit worried. I never had to sleep by myself until I was at the pet shop and I didn't like it. I admit it, I'm a bit cowardly in this area. I prayed and prayed hard that I didn't have to do that. Thank doGness Mummy swooped me up in her arms and brought me upstairs to her room to sleep. And I have been there ever since.

That about sums up my first couple of days with my family. Uneventful but I'm glad Mummy changed her mind about furkids.

Looking handsome even at the tender age of 4 months

My first visit to the beach.

By the way if you want to know about Toto's first week, here is the link. Toto's first week.

The Life Of A Neglected Pup

With that stupid TV in the house I am really getting neglected. Now they are watching DVDs too. I had to sit through all the Harry Potter movies with my Jie Jie!!! Yawn!

BTW I tried some of your advice and I am afraid that snatching the remote only got Daddy livid! I had never seen him so upset with me, I was terrified. He chased after me and I ran and ran for the safety of my kennel.

Daddy I won't do it again, I promise!
To stave off boredom, I decided that it would be a good time to turn one of my toys into a has been. See the results of my handiwork.

Before

After

Psst! My Mummy had to use Photoshop to put back the part I chewed off. Ha! Ha! Wish we could reverse time that easily. I would erase that stupid TV out of our lifes!

I Feel Ignored!!!

I am bored. I am being ignored by everyone in the family. Why won't someone play with me?

Its not fair. My parents recently bought this monster of a TV and now everyone is crowding around the TV. Its just a TV. A piece of plastic and wires. I am alive and of flesh and blood. Play with me! Play with me! I am better than that piece of inanimate object.

Public Enemy No 1
I really don't see what the big deal is. Daddy ignores me. Kor Kor ignores me. Jie Jie ignores me. Even my Mummy ignores me. SULK! SULK!

I know I know, there's Toto. But he's just a silly puppy! Not a grown up like me!

Will someone please play with me?

My Big Adventure

Hi

This is Toto here today. My Second Kor Kor, Scruffy, says I should share with you my big adventure.

Like Kor Kor says it started Sunday morning. We saw the gate open and Kor Kor said let's go for an adventure so I followed him out. I knew this was wrong because the parents always scolded us for going out but my Kor Kor said it was OK. If not, they would have closed the gate. So I went.

We did come to a fork in the road and I told Kor Kor I didn't want to go anymore. I wanted to go home. Actually it was because I saw the big road in front and frankly I got a bit scared. He didn't want to go home so I told him I would turn back.

Unfortunately this where I went wrong. I went into the wrong fork in the road and wound up in a small lane. I walked a bit trying to find my scent so that I could follow it home. But I couldn't find it.

Then something very scary happened. I came to the gate of another house and there were 2 big German Shephard dogs there. They were really fierce. They scolded me and yelled at me. I was so scared I couldn't move. I almost peed!

They made such a racket that their hooman came out to see what was going on. The kind man took one look at my scared pathetic face and knew I was lost. I was really terrified by then you know. Lucky for me he checked my name tag which I also wear all the time and he called my Daddy. He was also kind enough to take me home as he only lived 5 minutes away.

I tell you I will never listen to that Kor Kor again. He got me into so much trouble. I knew I should never have gone outside by ourselves. He made everyone so upset and we got such a scolding after that. I swear I will never go outside again without permission.

Its really not my fault. It was all Kor Kor.

Scruff :

Toto is lying. He wanted to go out as much as me. He didn't have to follow me. Next time I will never take him anywhere.

The Great Escape

We really did it this time. Escaped again. This time Toto escaped too.

It all started mid-morning on Sunday. Toto and I just had our weekly (urgh!) bath and was running out to the garden to rub ourselves on the grass as usual. Lo and behold! Guess what! The gate is open!!! I think Kor Kor's tutor left it open when she left the house after tuition. Anway, I don't really care. Opportunity presents itself.

I was out of there. I ran and ran. Sniffing and poking my nose at all the interesting smells that Daddy won't let me sniff at when we went for our walkies. We came to a fork in the road and Toto decided that he wanted to turn left while I continued on. I can see the big main road in front where all the wheeled thingys are whizzing by. Excitement! Excitement! I charged on.

When I got to the big road, I decided I didn't really want to try and cross with all the wheeled thingys whizzing by so I walked along it. I came to the food centre. Oh my dog! All those smells and exciting things to explore. I feel like the great Indiana Jones off to adventures. Exploring and finding lost artifacts. Of course, I am more dashing than Harrison Ford.

By the by, I came to this place where all the wheeled thingys were parked. I was getting rather tired by then. I wanted to go home. But .... which way? I was in big trouble. I didn't know. Daddy never brought me here before. Where oh where should I go? I am beginning to feel the first signs of panic. I want my Mummy!

Oh! There's a lady there. I shall go ask her where I should go. Maybe she'll know.

Obviously my pathetic look must have worked. The lady patted me and kindly asked if I was lost. I must have looked lost. Please! Please! Tell me where my house is. The lady looked at my name tag which I always wear round my neck. Oh! I think this is your parent's phone number, she says. She makes a call. After that she started patting me and playing with me. By then I really was in no mood to play. I want my Mummy! Where is my Mummy?!

I looked across the park thing and I spy Jie Jie. Jie Jie come get me. I'm here. I struggled out of the kindly lady's arms and ran and ran to Jie Jie. Boy! Am I glad to see you! Take me home please.

Jie Jie wasn't amused. She scolded me and smacked me. (But gently. Not her usual big smack like when I attacked her shoes.) She went on and on about losing the way. Bad men taking me. Getting knocked down by the wheeled thingys. Come on Jie Jie. I'm a big dog now. I had the sense not to cross the road and not to follow bad men. Okay! Okay! So I wasn't sure how to get home but you came to get me didn't you.

To cut a long story short, I am now home. I have been chastised long and loud by everyone in the family. Including my usually soft Mummy. I spent the rest of the day sulking because of all the scoldings I got. Nothing happened to me right. I got home alright. So I don't see what all the big fuss is about. But just to make peace with everyone.

Please please please forgive me.

PS : Now what happened to Toto you ask. I will leave Toto to tell you about his adventures tomorrow. Mum says she had better do some work now. BTW he is home too.

The Mighty Scruff Returns

I am back! I am back! Finally!

My torture is over. I no longer have to put up with Jie Jie and Kor Kor. I no longer have to pretend to enjoy their antics. I don't have to entertain them anymore. And I no longer have to beg Jie Jie for her write my blog. She only did it a measly two times. Mummy and Daddy are HOME!

It was so exciting. I kissed and kissed Mummy and Daddy. I missed them sooooo much. Also of course, Mummy bought us loads of treats. So that was also good.

She got us some gravy that we can have with our kibble. Yum! Yum! I had some and my kibble never tasted so good. She also got us some fruit smoothies. Nice and cold. Especially after a nice long walkie with Daddy. (We finally went out after so long. Jie Jie and Kor Kor were too lazy to take us.)

I had heard about Petco from some of my friends and I asked Mummy to go see what it was like and she did. She told me it was this huge store just for pets and it had loads and loads of fun and good stuff. Daddy took a picture to show us what it was like.

And it even had a dog bar filled with yummy biscuits that you could buy by the pound. Shucks! Mummy didn't get us any. She said she had no more space in her suitcase.

And the reason she had no more space was ...... See below.

As usual she went beserk when it comes to clothes. Women! Yes! Yes! You guessed it. She got us more instruments of shame and torture - clothes. I guess I will have to humour her and wear the new clothes she got us. What do you think? Do I look smart?

Toto had a matching one with me too but his is blue. He didn't seem to mind wearing clothes.

I have to thank all my furfriends who have dropped by in hope that my Jie Jie was not too lazy to update my blog. I will be visiting all your blogs over the next few days and try to get caught up with all that has been happening. I feel so deprived because my lazy Jie Jie won't help me read your blogs either. But now my torture is over. Mummy is back and I can get back to blogging.

See ya'll soon.
